While everyone will be drooling over the new Nissan GT-R at this year’s Tokyo Auto Show, Mitsubishi will be getting ready to give the Japanse market their next-generation Mitsubishi EVO X. New information from AutoExpress tells us that the next-generation EVO X will have a pretty tricked out transmission and will cost more than the outgoing model.
When they hit UK dealerships in February of 2008, 80 percent of the Mitsubishi EVO X models are expected to be fitted with a flappy-paddle gearbox with three modes. While the driver will still have manual control, they may choose from Normal, Sport and Supersort. The Supersport mode is mainly designed for use on the track since it allows gear changes only when necessary to keep the revs near the red line.
Pricing on the next-generation Mitsubishi EVO X is expected to be higher than its predecessor with the entry level 300 horsepower model carrying an estimated MSRP of £30,000. The UK tune FQ versions will follow in early 2009.
The 2008 Mitsubishi EVO X will make its official debit at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
